( ED HARDY VINTAGE TATTOO WEAR )
Mickey Rourke and Christian Audigier
New Page 1
I first came
across “Ed Hardy Vintage Tattoo Wear’s” site while I was looking for
information and pictures for a story on Mickey Rourke. Once finding the site and
noticing the pictures that they had of Mickey, I found myself contacting them to
see if I could get permission to use the images on Mickeyfan! The answer well
turned out to be yes. After finding out more about the site, I started
communicating back and forth with their Marketing VP Nathan Fuja. Thanks to
Nathan I found myself wanting to know more about the subject at hand. I wanted
to know more about Christian and what he does. Christian started off designing
for “Von Dutch” and then partnered with Ed Hardy. He has since started two
of his own boutiques on Melrose Ave. in Hollywood. Of which one caters to men
and the other to women. His styles transcended other designers in the business
and has become very popular with a number of celebrities and one in particular
who is well known with all of us here at Mickeyfan. Yes everyone, I am talking
about Mickey Rourke himself. I thought that it would be interesting to talk to
Christian Audigier and get to know a little bit more about him and what got him
started with working in the business. Plus maybe get an insight of how he first
met Mickey. So after conversing back and forth with Nathan, it started to come
together and Christian has agreed to answer a few questions for us.
TA: Hello Christian, I first want to say thank you for agreeing to this
interview and that I promise I will not take this to the extreme.
CA: It’s my pleasure.
TA: From reading a little bit about you, I have discovered that you are
originally from France. What brought you to the United States?
CA: I love America. It’s freedom, rock n’ roll and it’s a place where
anyone can make it. I love that.
TA: What actually got you started in the designing that you do?
CA: I love fashion. When I was young, someone gave me a great opportunity to
become a designer. I have developed my style through the years and you can see
where I am with Ed Hardy and my own line, Christian Audigier.
TA: Who or what were your biggest influences?
CA: Everything around me, my idols, my friends, the music I listen to and the
movies I watch.
TA: Did you ever really see yourself getting into the field that you are in and
do you feel that you have achieved everything that you have wanted to achieve?
CA: Yes, I knew I would do something big and it happened to be in fashion. I
have not achieved everything yet, there is much more than I want to do. I
promise you that you will be amazed.
TA: Are there any other projects in the future that you wish to accomplish?
CA: I want to develop my own line and see it on the red carpet and see the
Rolling Stones wearing it in concert.
TA: Now I have noticed from going to your site that you cater to a lot of
different celebrities. Do you find yourself being star struck when you meet the
celebrities that come into your business?
CA: I see them in videos or movies and think wow, they are so talented. Then
they come in and I see them as real people, it’s nice. We respect each other
for our talents.
TA: The Biker style has really come forward in the fashion industry today, is
this something that you saw prior and made it a point to add your own little
flair? Also do you feel that this is going to continue to be something on the
rise?
CA: I ride motorcycles and love the feeling of power and freedom. Like I said, I
design things that interest me. My flair makes the ordinary, extraordinary.
There will always be interest in the biker style, it represents a lot of what
this country is about to me.
TA: Ok, you knew I would get to this sooner or later, so I might as well do this
for the members of the site. Ok, I will have to admit that I am curious myself!
When did you first meet Mickey Rourke and how did that come about?
CA: We met in 1997 at Barfly. We were after the same girls and guess who the
girl liked at the end of the night? Me.
TA: What’s your favorite Mickey Rourke movie or do you even go to the movies?
CA: Wild Orchid. It’s sexy and raw; I love the scenery and the feel it gives.
TA: I have heard that Mickey is pretty much approachable! As in he’s
easy-going and quite interesting to talk too. Would you agree or disagree?
CA: Yes, he’s a good guy, very approachable. He’s always got something to
say, he’s a fun guy.
TA: Now, I said that I was not going to take this to the extreme and I do hope
that I abided by my own rules!!! HAHA!! I really appreciate this from you
Christian and I must say that I am really interested in the work that you do and
I love the styles that you have brought forward in the industry! I do have one
last question and then I am done. Clothes and caps are not the only thing that
you sale in your boutiques. What other items are we looking at here?
CA: We have shoes, pet items, energy drink and water and there is a lot more
coming soon, so be ready!
TA: Again, Thank you and I do hope that you continue with your well deserved
success! You have a beautiful talent in creating some of the greatest artwork on
your products!
CA: I will admit that I have found it quite interesting myself.
I want to say one last thing to all of the readers here at Mickeyfan.net. If you
are interested in knowing more about what Christian Audigier does and what he
has brought forward in the fashion industry when it comes to his style and or
even interested in maybe purchasing his products, then you should head on over
to his site and give it a look.
