“A Woman That Had A Dream And Fulfilled It”

When first catching up with Justice over an image she had taken of Mickey Rourke years ago, she brought me into a whole different world of photography that I had never seen! Hey my image of photography was just taking that shot of the kids and moving on. Justice does this for a living and expresses herself through her work. With a style all her own and images that one will never forget, she’s kicking ass at what she does. After talking with her, I thought why not give the readers and the fans a chance to see what she’s been up to since our first interview a year ago. We received such rave reviews on the story and interview the last time that it made sense to pick up where we left off. Who better to tell you what she’s been up too than the “huntress of the lens” herself!

TA: Hey Justice, first I just have to say you kick ass and well we appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to hook back up with us here at Mickeyfan!

JH: Well thanks darlin, Mickeys one of my favorite actors, I just saw Domino and loved it. Mickeys like the “king of the isma” for sure.

TA: Give it to me straight girl, what’s Justice Howard been up to here lately? Don’t hold back, but ofcourse we know you pretty much don’t hold back with anything when it comes to your work!

JH:  Well that’s true yes. The main thing I guess most recently is the art show we just had at Meltdown Gallery on Sunset Blvd and it was so big the cops came twice to shut us down and the fire trucks were there to shut us down too. They ticketed the owner Francisco for noise since they couldn’t shut us down after trying so hard.  Quite a few of my shows in the past have been shut down due to overcapacity.  That night we had burlesque dancers Natalie Minx who did a fabulous 1940’s style fan dance and then Victoria Vengeance closed the show with a blood bath show she did ala’ gothic style in a old antique clawfoot tub. Then the “Fearleaders” (choreographed derby doll cheerleader dance troupe) went on and wowed the crowd with their antics and they too were adorable. Dennis Hopper came to see the art, and I sold a lot of pieces so that was good. A guy from Walt Disney purchased one from my ONCE UPON A TEASE erotic fairytale series. The other thing on my agenda right now is a bar they are building in Washington DC that will house 20 pieces of my art. Its called the TATTOO BAR and my art is all over the bar in huge lightboxes and they bought licensing for a couple of images too so my art will be all over the tshirts, posters, coasters and ads that they  will be doing. As far as I know HR Geiger and myself are the only artists that have our own art bars, so to speak. They will be flying me in for the opening reception in   a few months.

TA: Now you have this whole Diva Dolls Shoot going on, can you give us a little insight into how you got it all started and what’s happening?

JH:   Sure, well, DIVA DOLLS is an event that came about in reference to all of the girls who write me and say “Id love to work with you” and “how can I get photos done by you?” So what I’ve done is lowered my price in a total all encompassing  “package deal” where anyone can afford to get photos done by me at that price.. I believe that every woman should have a “DIVA PORTRAIT” done in her lifetime to make her feel special and beautiful. One that encapsulates a moment in time to preserve her beauty forever. So for $350 I do just that for all women who want one. The retouching of the images, studio time, hair and makeup application, wardrobe, editing and usage of images is all inclusive in this deal as well as a pre-production styling meeting with the model where we discuss what she wants in her shoot ahead of time. A lot of girls are flying in to do this and they are smart because it’s a super coolio deal. The hair and makeup is worth the price of this package alone. Theres a gallery on my personal website called DIVA DOLL for anyone interested that houses all of the information about ’wheres & whens’.

TA: You have a whole new website going, which I have to come out and say girl, it really Rocks! It also looks like you’ve been taking some new shots of some rather interesting people. Can you give the readers a little inside information on the celebrities that have been coming your direction?

JH: I just shot Sybil Danning and styled her after the old style Hollywood glamour era.  Seka is a friend of Sybils so the Sybil   shoot snowballed into the Seka shoot all by itself.. Seka had never ever done a fetish shoot in her entire career so we did a fetish shoot for her. She looks fabulous by the way. I shot Dick Dales posters for Stater Bros “ Route 66” summer rockabilly gig. I took Sonny Bargers shots for a magazine article. I flew to Arizona and stayed with him for the weekend, as he’s an old friend of mine from way back. He’s got a sweet ranch in Cave Creek, Arizona with his dogs and horses. Waylon Jennings’s photos were in the art show too and he was amazing to shoot. Yah my job doesn’t sukk!

TA: You’ve been really knocking them dead with the work you’ve brought to the surface! Has there been any changes since first making it on the scene?

JH:  Well its a lot easier now to get my art placed for publication than back when I wasn’t as well known. That’s for sure.  Also I used to have to almost chew someone arm off to get them to pose for me now   that’s all changed where I’ve got people beating down my door wanting to pose for me. So id say those are the biggest changes, yeah.

  TA: What’s Next?

JH:  My hardcover book is being designed as we speak. It’s a big deal to have your first “monograph” hardcover book being published, believe me. A dream comes true really!

TA: What would you like to see in the future when it comes to your work?

JH:  Well I’d like to do more   prop-intensive portraits of very eclectic & interesting characters. Kind of like this:  I’m going to shoot Rob Gee quite soon and he’s the DJ for Slipknot, Biohazard & Korn. Since he’s the DJ, I’m having my pal Gage build a very creative wild & evil gnarly prop specifically for him. Gage and I had a pre-production meeting today and we came up with some ideas that are very specific for the styling, and then building, of this prop for the photograph. Gage does special effects for horror movies so the thing we are building is going to be very gnarly and quite, (I’m hoping) unforgettable. And that kind of thing gets my creative juices flowing.

TA: It’s always great chatting with you Justice and everything seems to be heading in the right direction for you. Now it’s time to pimp out your website and myspace page!
